After completing the relief works the biggest task before the District
administration, Kollam was rehabilitation of over 2969 families who have
lost their houses and other equipments. The first phase of the rehabilitation
work has started with the construction of temporary shelters for the affected
people. The following ICT supports were being given by the NIC to the
district administration for tsunami rehabilitation work.
COMPUTERISATION OF TSUNAMI SURVEY DATA
1. All the field survey details have been stored in the
database server with user friendly input forms. These forms were designed
with Visual Basic 6 and Access as database
2. Ration Card Information database and Election Identity card Information
have been used for verifying the above data.
3. Different kinds of reports required by the District administration
were generated using Crystal Reporter 9.
4. Complaints received from public about the information collected by
the survey have been registered in the system and forwarded to the District
Collector and member of panchayat for necessary correction and approval.
5. Final list of fully damaged houses were handed over to various NGO’s
involved in the rehabilitation work.
COMPUTERISED ENQUIRY COUNTER FOR PUBLIC
Computerised TSUNAMI information counter has been setup
at Karunagappally taluk office for providing citizen centric service.
Public and News paper were appreciated of the service of NIC.
TSUNAMI CARD FOR AFFECTED VICTIMS
On the direction of the District Collector, NIC district
unit assisted in the designing and printing of the TSUNAMI IDENTIFICATION
CARD for the victims. This card contains all the information of the victims
such as Ward No, House No, Survey No, Age, Sex, Name & Address, Family
details, Relief amount, Damage details, Payment details and details of
assistance received from various NGO’s etc. This card can also be utilized
by other department like Fisheries, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry etc.

TSUNAMI CASH COUNTER
All the cash transaction related to tsunami rehabilitation
work or fully and partially damaged houses and buildings are being fed
into the system and daily reports are being taken for verification. It
has helped to improve the efficiency of the cash payment system.
TSUNAMI DATA TO GOVERNMENT SECRETARY
Tsunami Daily/Weekly Reports (26 sheets) have been prepared
and send to Disaster Secretary, Govt. of Kerala.
TSUNAMI WEB SITE has been hosted with all the latest
information and all government approved lists (http://www.kollam.nic.in/relief.html).
We are planning to craft this site as a historic site in memory of TSUNAMI
disaster at Kollam.
TSUNAMI ADALATH
Judgment issued by the District Court on the petitions
received by the Adalath conducted in three phases were kept in database
and various reports were being generated for decision making and submitting
proposal to the government. A Database is being kept ready for action
to be taken on the basis of future decision of the government.
TSUNAMI REHABILITATION WORK FOR MATSYAFED
New software has been developed and implemented for the
data entry and report generation of MATSYSFED tsunami survey list. The
following area-wise /ward-wise reports/lists have been generated.
• Objection filed against the sanctioned list
• Adalat conducted by Legal services authority
• Application received in connection with new request for fishing equipments.
