After setting up the relief camps and arranging all
necessary facilities in the camps, the District Administration turned
its attention towards the funeral of the dead bodies that were kept
in the mortuaries.
On the third day after the attack, the District Administration has arranged
for the mass funeral of the dead bodies as per the religious rites after
a simple inquest and without performing post-mortem, as per the special
instructions received from the state government.
The funeral pyres were arranged separately for each body. However, some
of the bodies were directly handed over to the relatives on their demand.
After the damages of the affected area were documented and after the
Central Team has completed its visit, the debris has been removed and
the dislocated water supply, electricity systems and telephone lines
have been temporarily restored. Repairs and maintenance of the partially
damaged government schools were also taken up.
