Matsyafed, with the help of Revenue Department, has conducted detailed surveys to identify the fishermen families that have either lost their livelihood equipment like crafts, nets, motors etc. or suffered damages due to Tsunami attack.

Matsyafed has sanctioned a total of about Rs.7.2 Crores and so far fishing equipment worth an amount of Rs. 4.77 Crores was distributed and orders have been placed for the distribution of the remaining fishing equipment.

Similarly, the Fisheries Department has conducted surveys and sanctioned an amount of Rs.59 lakhs and distributed an amount of Rs.52 lakhs so far to the Tsunami affected fishermen families.
